Psychology Class as Apologetics

June 20, 2017

Every semester, during the last lecture, I ask students a question. It is a question that they know is coming. It is a question I told them about during the first lecture and that I ask them to think about during every lecture.

Which worldview makes sense?

Which worldview makes ultimate sense of the entirety of the science of psychology? Is evolutionary naturalism able to explain the complexity of our dis-proportionally enormous brains? Does human consciousness and reason make sense from an evolutionary perspective? Which worldview best explains Mankind’s capacity for both terrible cruelty and for great kindness and self-sacrifice?

Which worldview makes sense? I know, and I love it when students discover the answer for themselves.
